Welcoming you to explore the art of traditional Batik - the core of Indonesia’s cultural textile heritage.
Batik is a wax-resistant dyeing technique used on textiles; a method of producing colored designs on textiles
by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left undyed.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has officially recognized Batik as an Indonesian cultural treasure. Following UNESCO’s decision, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked all Indonesians to wear Batik on Oct 2 2009 to appreciate this recently recognized world legacy.
We hope that this website will give u a better understanding of the Batik world.
